GPA Chief Executive Dessie Farrell will seek a full explanation from Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy as to why GAA players don't receive the same tax breaks as other sportspeople.
Farrell held an information session in Dublin this morning to appraise TDs and senators why GAA inter-county players should be included in the current tax incentives for Irish based sportspeople.
The issue is set to be debated in the Dáil, though Farrell isn't confident that GAA players will be included.
Farrell said: "If that's the case then we'll be asking the relevant officials, people like Charlie McCreevy, to explain why it hasn't been a runner.
"We would hope the general public might be a bit more aware of our situation after this. We'll go after it again next year and continue to engage with the Department officials."
