All but a handful of flights have been cancelled at Cork Airport this morning due to the disruption caused to Irish and UK airspace by a volcanic eruption in Iceland.

Passengers there have been frantically trying to re-book, with many having arrived not knowing whether their flight was affected.

Only a handful of early departures made it away before air traffic restrictions were imposed.

The mood amongst passengers is one of resignation with an acknowledgment that it is an act of nature and not of the airlines.
