One of two Limerick brothers accused of threatening to kill three members of the same family was refused bail by the Special Criminal Court in Dublin today.
Wayne Dundon (aged 33), of Lenihan Avenue, Limerick, is charged with threatening to kill a mother, her daughter and her son at an address at Ballinacurra Weston in Limerick in two separate incidents in March and September, 2010.
Chief Superintendent David Sheehan opposed a bail application on behalf of Dundon. The Chief Superintendent said he believed that Dundon would commit further serious offences if released on bail.
Detective Sergeant Denis Treacy also opposed bail and he believed that if granted bail, Dundon would not appear for his trial and would interfere with witnesses if given bail.
Mr Justice Paul Butler, presiding, said that the court was satisfied that on the basis of the Chief Superintendent's evidence there were grounds for refusing bail and therefore bail was refused.
Wayne Dundon's younger brother John Dundon (aged 29) of Hyde Road, Limerick is also facing similar charges and both men were remanded in custody until their trial date next February.
