Fianna Fáil will support legislation to impose pay cuts on public sector workers following the rejection of the Croke Park extension deal.
The agreement is aimed at cutting €1bn from the pay bill by 2015, with €300m of it by the end of this year.
The Labour Relations Commission is to talk to trade unions to see if there is a basis for talks following the rejection of Croke Park II.
Fianna Fáil spokesperson on Expenditure Sean Fleming has told Kfm that the money has to be found.
"It'll be found in the public sector pay bill," he said.
"If there is no agreement, the Government, if they are determined to make the saving, will have to bring in legislation and force it through the Dáil without public sector agreement.
"If legislation comes through on those issues in the Dáil, Fianna Fáil will support that aspect of the legislation that we do agree with, but any aspect that we think is unfair, we will vote against.
"So there's an onus on the Government to come back with a fair proposal."
