A 46-year-old chef who falsely imprisoned, raped and orally raped a woman he met in a nightclub in Co Westmeath has been jailed for eight years.

Samir Mansour, is originally from Tunisia but lives at Windmill Hill, Prospect, Mullingar, where the attack took place on January 8, 2010.

Mr Mansour met his 19-year-old victim in a nightclub in Mullingar.

When she told him she was gay, he said he was too and while she did not believe him she thought he was harmless and agreed to go to a party in his apartment.

When she got there and realised nobody else was coming she tried to leave but he grabbed her by the arm, raped her, orally raped her and threatened that he would poke her eye out and kill her.

He had an attack of remorse afterwards in which he cried and asked his victim if they could still be friends.

The 46-year-old chef was convicted by a jury earlier this month - he has no previous convictions

Imposing an eight-year jail sentence, Judge Iseult O'Malley described the ordeal as terrifying for the victim who suffered bruising and internal injury as well as flashbacks, nightmares and panic attacks.
