Detention extended for two held on firearms charges

A man and women who were arrested yesterday evening in connection with a firearms seizure near the Curragh in Co Kildare have had their period of detention extended.

A man and women who were arrested yesterday evening in connection with a firearms seizure near the Curragh in Co Kildare have had their period of detention extended.

The find included four sawn-off shotguns and three pistols, one of which was fully loaded.

A quantity of ammunition, drugs paraphernalia, balaclavas and a substance believed to be cocaine were also seized.

The two, who are both in their 30s, are being questioned at Kildare and Newbridge Garda stations.
