A driver was killed in a four-truck crash today.

The scene of the crash, which happened at 7am on the N8, north of Fermoy, Co Cork, has been closed to passing traffic.

Three truckers were injured and have all been taken to hospital, but their conditions are not believed to be life-threatening.

Diversions are in place for northbound traffic from Cork City via Ballyhooly to Glanworth and on to Mitchelstown, and for southbound traffic via Kilworth and back through Fermoy to rejoin the N8.

The AA said the N8 is blocked in both directions outside the Corbett Court Restaurant and has warned motorists to avoid the area if possible.
