Valley of the Dolls (Fox Cinema Reserve, €24.99) exposed a side of Hollywood most were unaware of in the early ‘60s, drugs and exploitation.
Ironic given that one of its stars is Sharon Tate, whose murder by the Charles Manson gang would become one of the defining moments of that decade.
Although somewhat dated (the look, that is), there is much to enjoy as its three main characters, the secretary who becomes a model (Barbara Parkins), wannabe singer (Patty Duke) and exploited sex symbol (Tate), struggle with success, or the lack of it.
This two-disc set has a wealth of background featurettes on the stars and writer Jacqueline Susan, screen tests and karaoke numbers!
