Jonathan Ross wanted to judge on this year's 'Britain's Got Talent'.

The chat show host dropped hints to Simon Cowell in the hope he would sign him up as a panellist on the ITV1 show, but the music mogul turned Jonathan down as he refuses to book anyone "better looking" than himself.

He said: "I love those shows. If anybody ever asked me to do one I would do one. If he asked me to do one then I would do it. I was dropping hints to him that I wanted to be on 'Britain's Got Talent' and he was very kind and he said, 'It's my policy never to book anyone better looking to me'.

"It used to not be true but now he's got the moobs I think I am better looking."

Despite being keen to judge on the show himself, Jonathan played a part in Simon taking on Michael McIntyre as a panellist for last year's 'Britain's Got Talent' series, although the music mogul had never even heard of the comedian before.

Speaking on ITV1's 'This Morning', Jonathan added: "I don't know if it was my idea as such but I don't think he knew about him and I mentioned him to Simon at George Michael's house and said, You should think about Michael because he's huge at the moment, so funny and very warm', and he actually said, 'Who's Michael McIntyre?'

"I think he was spending a lot of time in America at the time and he hadn't really seen him, but I think it was a decision made by quite a lot of people, it wasn't just me."
