Galway's next hurling manager should be known tonight following a meeting of the county board.
The battle for the post has been reduced to a two-horse race following the decision of former boss Noel Lane to pull out of the running.
Outgoing boss Conor Hayes and All-Ireland-winning minor manager Mattie Murphy are battling each other for the position.
Murphy held the position twice in the '90s and is the favourite to land the job, having brought the minor title to the west this year.
Hayes's senior charges were trounced by Kilkenny in the All-Ireland qualifiers.
A seven-man committee has been set up to choose the new manager, made up of board officials and four senior clubs.
They have already interviewed both candidates.
