Strong Resolve is well on target for the totesport Becher Chase at Aintree on Sunday week.
Trainer Lucinda Russell is delighted with the nine-year-old’s condition after giving him a spin over hurdles at Ayr last week.
Strong Resolve was a four-length second that day and Russell reckons he should be spot on for the three-mile-three-furlong test over the Grand National fences.
She said: “He definitely goes for the Becher Chase. The hurdle race has freshened him up and he’s well in himself. I was very happy with his last run.
“He’ll probably go straight to Chepstow for the Welsh National after the Becher, and then on to the John Smith’s Grand National.”
The Scottish-based trainer is unconcerned about the going for her charge, who completed the course when 17th to Hedgehunter in last season’s National.
She said: “He can go on anything but I wouldn’t want it as heavy as it was at Carlisle a couple of runs back. Just on the soft side will be fine.”
