Tigers miss trio for Merry Monk clash

Tralee side Abrakebabra Tigers will face Merry Monk Ballina missing several key players in the NIVEA for Men SuperLeague this weekend.

Tralee side Abrakebabra Tigers will face Merry Monk Ballina missing several key players in the NIVEA for Men SuperLeague this weekend.

Although they look mismatched on current form - Tigers have lost just once this season, Ballina are mid-table - the Tralee team are missing a number of regulars, giving Sean McHale's men some measure of hope.

Tigers' Roscoe Patterson is in the US; Michael Quirke will be attending the Kerry All-Ireland medal presentation while Kieran Donaghy is involved in GAA action in a game for Austin Stacks.

Roma St Vincent's, form team in the SuperLeague, play host to Mardyke UCC Demons, who are on a winning streak of their own.

DART Killester will hope to have put their troubled times behind them when they take on MDS Star in Belfast on Saturday.

Limerick Lions may have suffered an unexpected defeat to Merry Monk Ballina last weekend but that will not have dented their SuperLeague ambitions, as they are looking good for a play-off position, currently in second in the Southern Conference.

The Shannonsiders host Shamrock Rovers Hoops on Sunday, who play in the Cup on Saturday night. The Dublin team play Neptune in the third round of the National Cup in Cork on Saturday night.

Neptune scraped a win against Gleneagle Lakers on Wednesday night and while Marcus Walley should be fit again to face Hoops, the Leesiders have a number of injury concerns.

Carlo Ferri will certainly be out through illness, Steven McCarthy pulled up with a knee injury in Wednesday's game, and Ronnie Clark is laid low with illness also, although the later two will most likely play.

The other game in round three of the Cup sees UCD travel to Waterford Crystal on Sunday, and on current form, the Dubliners should prevail.

In the Women's SuperLeague DART Killester are in pursuit of the all-conquering UL Aughinish, with just UL's defeat of Killester the difference between the two sides in the League table.

DART, with Carmel Kissane in great form since her return, will aim to keep up their winning ways when they take on Bausch & Lomb Wildcats in Waterford on Saturday, while XLR8 Autos Drimnagh, who recently departed company with coach Mick Lowth, host Mercy Coolock on Sunday.
