World would be better without Bush says Iraq

President George Bush is a warmonger that the world would be better off without, an Iraqi state-run newspaper said today.

Al-Thawra, a newspaper of the ruling Baath party, accused Bush and other US officials of triggering wars and crises in the world and misleading Americans to achieve personal ambitions.

Besides Bush, it singled out Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Senator Joseph Lieberman, the Democrat who was Al Gore’s running mate in the last presidential election.

‘‘No doubt that the world would be better without some people such as Bush, Rumsfeld, Lieberman and many other US officials because they are corrupt,’’ al-Thawra said in the front-page editorial.

‘‘Those people are warmongers because they have personal interests with oil companies and weapons manufacturers.’’

After the September 11 terror strikes in the United States, Lieberman called Iraqi President Saddam Hussein ‘‘a terrorist who must be removed.’’

He has urged the Bush administration to focus on Iraq as part of its war against terrorism.
