UPC Ireland, the new parent company of cable operator NTL Ireland and Chorus, today announced the launch of a new broadband and digital phone package for €24 per month.
The move is part of the continued roll-out of UPC Ireland's next generation networks.
The new package offers voice and broadband for €24 per month, less than what consumers currently pay for line rental alone with Eircom.
UPC's target is to have more than 375,000 homes enabled for digital phone by the end of 2007. The service is delivered over the cable infrastructure without the need for a traditional telephone line.
The company is investing more than €300m in the network to deliver new services to homes.
The new service is available from today in parts of Tallaght, Templeogue, Blanchardstown, Walkinstown, Lucan and Raheny and continues to be deployed across other parts of the Dublin network. In addition, the service is now available in more than 40,000 homes across Galway and Waterford.
UPC will end the year with over 375,000 homes upgraded to digital telephony including Limerick and Cork.
Mark Coan, marketing and sales director of UPC Ireland said: "Our new digital phone service offers compelling value and for the first time offers a real alternative to Eircom."
