Former assistant Dublin city and county manager George Redmond is reportedly facing the prospect of further corruption allegations in a report to be published shortly by the Mahon Tribunal.
This morning’s newspapers said the report would deal with allegations that Mr Redmond sought a 10% saving on a planning levy for land owned by Joseph Murphy Structural Engineers (JMSE).
It is also expected to report on his dealings with several wealthy builders during the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s.
The Mahon Tribunal apparently delayed publication of the report until after Mr Redmond’s recent corruption trial because it may have been used to prevent the trial taking place.
Mr Redmond was jailed for a year last month after being convicted of accepting a £10,000 bribe in relation to the sale of a right of way in the Lucan area of Dublin in the late 1980s.
