Rising Scottish star Ryan Dalziel has staked his claim for a move into Champ Cars after testing in Alabama.
The driver has made a name for himself in the United States by finishing a close second in the Toyota Atlantic Championship, traditionally a feeder series for Champ Car.
He was given the chance to step up a level with a two-day test for PKV Racing at Barber Motorsports Park and after working closely with former champion Jimmy Vasser, the 22-year-old felt he acquitted himself well.
He said: “I’m pretty pleased with the way I’ve driven over the last two days and it’s certainly good having Jimmy here as a guy who knows these cars inside and out.
“I want to thank Jimmy, (team owner) Kevin Kalkoven and everyone at PKV Racing for this opportunity and hopefully I’ve proven that I’m ready for the challenge at the next level in Champ Car.”
Also testing for PKV was former International Formula 3000 champion Bjorn Wirdheim, who spent last year testing for Jaguar in Formula One.
