Johnny Depp was a surprise star guest at the World Music Awards at the Ocean venue in Hackney, east London.
The actor turned up to present an award to his favourite band, Taraf De Hadouks.
The 13-piece Romanian gypsy band were winners in the European/Middle East category.
Depp said: "Their music is beyond anything I've ever heard and they are the greatest musicians I've ever heard."
He first met the band when they featured with him in the movie The Man Who Couldn't Cry and struck up a friendship with them, once flying them to America to play at a party. He interviewed them in French on stage at the awards, then turned to the audience and said: "They say I'm a pig."
Damon Albarn and Joe Strummer were also at Hackney Ocean presenting trophies at the first Radio 3 Awards for World Music, which honour the best roots music from around the globe.
