Counihan makes three changes for Kerry clash

Cork manager Conor Counihan has announced his team for Sunday's Munster SFC final against Kerry in Killarney (throw-in 2pm).

The side shows three changes from the semi-final victory over Waterford, with Jamie O'Sullivan and Noel O'Leary restored to the defence.

Dual player Eoin Cadogan and Eoin Cotter both make way, while team captain Graham Canty has been moved to full-back for another expected duel with Kerry target man Kieran Donaghy.

Aghada clubman Pearse O'Neill also returns to the half-forward line, at the expense of Fiachra Lynch.

Cork's inside forward line of Daniel Goulding, Donncha O'Connor and Paul Kerrigan have scored 4-19 between them in their two Championship triumphs so far this summer.

Canty, who seems over his injury troubles, underlined his side's desire to add the Munster title to their All-Ireland and Allianz League wins of the past nine months.

"The All-Ireland is not spoken about in our dressing room. It's very much the Munster series," he said.

"We didn't win the Munster title last year. Kerry beat us in a replay after extra-time and it took us a while to get over that. This year we'd very much like to go through the front door."

For this weekend's encounter, Ray Carey is the only absentee from the Cork team that started that Munster semi-final replay defeat. John Miskella has taken his place in defence.

This will be the first time since 2008 that Cork and Kerry have met in the Munster final, although they have played each other seven times since then in provincial semi-finals, an All-Ireland final and semi-finals.

Since 2001, Cork and Kerry have clashed on no fewer than 20 occasions at Munster and All-Ireland level with the record reading: Kerry 11 wins, Cork 4 wins and there have been five drawn games.

The Rebels are seeking their first Championship win over Kerry in Killarney since 1995 when they were crowned Munster champions.

CORK (SFC v Kerry):Alan Quirke; Jamie O'Sullivan, Graham Canty (capt), Michael Shields; Noel O'Leary, John Miskella, Paudie Kissane; Alan O'Connor, Aidan Walsh; Ciarán Sheehan, Paddy Kelly, Pearse O'Neill; Daniel Goulding, Donncha O'Connor, Paul Kerrigan.
