Cork unchanged for Waterford re-match

Cork manager Gerald McCarthy has kept faith with the team that drew with Waterford last weekend and named an unchanged side for this Sunday's All-Ireland SHC quarter-final replay with Waterford, Croke Park, throw-in 4pm.

Cork manager Gerald McCarthy has kept faith with the team that drew with Waterford last weekend and named an unchanged side for this Sunday's All-Ireland SHC quarter-final replay with Waterford, Croke Park, throw-in 4pm.

That means the Rebels' 2007 captain Kieran Murphy of Erin's Own has to be content with a place on the substitutes bench once again, while Cathal Naughton, who shot 1-4 in Cork's Munster Under-21 final win over Waterford on Wednesday, also remains on the bench.

Shane O'Neill and Pa Cronin, two of Naughton's U-21 colleagues, have retained their starting places in the senior side.

In attack, Carrigtwohill's Niall McCarthy has been kept in reserve despite his impressive display as a second half substitute in last weekend's drawn game. His namesake Timmy McCarthy continues in his role at centre-forward.

Joe Deane, Cork's skipper in the absence of Murphy, is the Rebels' top scorer in the 2007 championship so far with 0-33. Ben O'Connor (0-25), Neil Ronan (4-11), Sarsfields' clubman Kieran Murphy (5-5) and Pa Cronin (3-7) have also contributed consistently for McCarthy's men.

Sunday's replay will see Cork meeting Waterford for the 57th time in the history of the hurling championship. The score stand at 41-11 in Cork's favour with four draws.
