A Garda superintendent at the centre of corruption allegations in Donegal is to take legal action against the State to protest his treatment since the allegations became public.

Kevin Lennon, who was based in Letterkenny at the time of the McBrearty scandal, claims he has been demoted because of the case.

He also maintains his family life has been ruined and the presumption of innocence to which he is entitled has been denied.

Mr Lennon is at the centre of allegations that gardai in Donegal deliberately conducted a campaign of harassment against a local publican family - the McBreartys - of Raphoe.
