Icon Q3 report shows positive results

A 30% increase in quarterly revenues and strong growth in income from operations left Icon representatives in buoyant humour today.

"This has been a very good quarter for ICON," said chairman Dr John Climax.

"Our clinical business again performed well and our laboratory business showed good improvement."

Icon's third fiscal quarter ended on February 29, with revenues of $77m (€62.24m) reported for the period - an increase of 30% over net revenues for the same quarter last year.

At $219m (€177.05m), year-to-date revenues were up 37% over the figure for the first three quarters last year.

"Net new business wins in the quarter were $91m (€73.55)," added Dr Climax, "which was a substantial increase over the previous quarter and our backlog has benefited from this.

"Nonetheless, we continue to be focused on our business development efforts to ensure that momentum will be maintained into our new fiscal year."

The company also announced that year-to-date income from operations was $24.7m (€19.96), marking a 40% increase over the same nine-month period last year.

Although Icon is based in Dublin, the clinical research organisation has 2450 employees in 20 countries worldwide.
