Divers are continuing to search the Grand Canal in the Clondalkin area of Dublin today for a second 18-year-old missing since leaving a party in the area at the weekend.

Yesterday, the body of Shane Coughlan, from Mill Park in Clondalkin, was found in a stretch of the canal alongside Fonthill Road.

Mr Coughlan and his friend, David White, from Tallaght, went missing in the early hours of Sunday morning after leaving a house party to buy cigarettes.

The search of the canal began on Tuesday evening after footwear belonging to one of the men was found on the banks.

An initial post mortem on Mr Coughlan's body indicated that the case of death was drowning.
