Taoiseach and opposition leaders attend 1916 memorial

The President, the Taoiseach and the leaders of the opposition are all attending a State commemoration in Dublin today to mark the 1916 Rising.

The President, the Taoiseach and the leaders of the opposition are all attending a State commemoration in Dublin today to mark the 1916 Rising.

The annual cross-party event is taking place at Arbour Hill in Dublin.

The most Rev Gerard Clifford, the auxiliary bishop of Armagh, will deliver the homily at a special mass in the Church of the Sacred Heart, where he will pay tribute to those who fought and died for Irish independence.

He will also remember those buried at Arbour Hill cemetery.

The mass will be followed by a wreath-laying ceremony.
