There has been a security van robbery in the Ringsend area of Dublin, just one week after gardai launched a major crackdown on hold-up robberies.

Two men with an iron bar held up a security van as it made a delivery to a GAA club in the Ringsend area and made off with a cash box in a red Toyota Corolla. The cash box was found a short distance away.

The rise in security van robberies has alarmed senior gardai, over 30 such hold-ups this year, as security convoys get ready to distribute the euro nationwide on New Year’s Eve.
