Man arrested after Dublin shooting

A man has been arrested in connection with an overnight shooting in Dublin.

A man has been arrested in connection with an overnight shooting in Dublin.

The victim, who is in his 20s, suffered leg injuries during the attack in Blanchardstown. He was set upon in the street at Fortlawn Park in Blanchardstown at around 5am today.

He was hit in the leg by at least one shot and was taken to Connolly hospital in Blanchardstown for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Gardaí have sealed off the scene for a technical examination.

A man in his late 20s has been arrested.

He is being held at Clondalkin garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, under which he can be questioned for three days.

Officers are also investigating a separate incident in the same estate where a shot was fired through the window of a house. No one was injured in that incident.

It is not known whether the incidents are related.
