Justine Henin-Hardenne needed just over an hour to blow past Mary Pierce in the French Open final on Saturday at Roland Garros.

In a battle of former champions, the Belgian cruised 6-1 6-1 for her fourth grand slam triumph.

It caps a magnificent comeback from her nightmare in 2004 when she sat out most of the season with glandular fever.

Henin-Hardenne, who turned 23 three days ago, won the French in 2003, the same year she prevailed at the US Open.

She also won the title at the Australian Open last year before becoming ill.

Now the Belgian will turn her attention to Wimbledon, where she was a finalist in 2001.

The 30-year-old Pierce, the 2000 winner in Paris, was her own worst enemy with 29 unforced errors.
