The 2007 National U-19 Championships will recommence at the National Stadium in Dublin at 5.30pm this afternoon and continue until all semi final bouts are completed.

The championships will concluded tomorrow evening with finals in all weight categories. Boxing will begin at 7.30pm.

Three boxers, Ryan Lindberg, John Joe Nevin, and Con Sheehan will be hoping to take one step closer to winning their second U-19 Irish title win on the trot from today's semi-finals.

Lindberg, from the Immaculata club in Belfast, who has won Senior, U-21 and U-19 Irish titles in the past twelve months, faces Sean Kilroy this evening.

And the 19-year-old Ulster teenager, who also won a silver medal at last month's GeeBee Senior Multi Nations in Finland, believes it will be tough.

He said: "The U-19 Championships are always very competitive and this years tournament is no exception. I am looking forward to the weekends boxing and defending my title at the National Stadium.

"Last weekends quarter final against Daniel Coughlin was a tough fight and I had to keep my concentration and it just goes to show that you can take nothing for granted at this level."

Clonmel heavyweight Con Sheehan is also just two bouts away from doing a double and he faces the promising Luke Cullinane from the St Colman's Club in Cork in an all Munster last four clash.

Defending flyweight champion John Joe Nevin meets Mike Kelly from Immaculata.

Meanwhile, the Irish Amateur Boxing Association (IABA) have announced that they will take on Young England in a one day international at the National Stadium on May 25.

The IABA will name their squad and announce further details of the international meeting shortly.
