Search underway for missing vessel

A search is underway off the North East coast after a fishing vessel with three people failed to return to port.

A search is underway off the North East coast after a fishing vessel with a father, son and grandson on board failed to return to port.

The grandson is 12 years old.

The Tullaghmurray Lass left Kilkeel harbour in Co Down at around 5am yesterday.

Belfast coastguard became concerned after no contact was received from the boat.

A rescue helicopter from Dublin and an RAF Nimrod are involved in the search.

Department of the Marine spokesman, Tom McLoughlin, said the operation involves numerous Irish coastguard vessels and about 20 local fishing boats.
