A post mortem will be carried out today on the body of a 70-year-old woman that was discovered at a house in Co Mayo yesterday.

It is believed she died months ago in the house which she shared with her sister and brother in Ballyhaunis.

Reports this morning said she had cut herself off from the outside world years ago and her siblings thought she was merely sick.

Her body was discovered by a doctor who called to the house to treat her sister.

Gardaí said they believe she died from natural causes.
