Director: Nancy Myers
Cast: Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin
Cert: 15
With such a strong cast at its collective peak this rom-com is, for the most part, more than a middle-age chick flick, it’s observant and often funny.
Slight and fluffy it might be, but the chemistry between Streep and Baldwin and the support of Martin, returning to something like his best work after a string of screen disappointments, gives it a watchable edge.
Baldwin plays Jake, the caddish ex of Jane (Streep) and Martin is Adam, the architect who fancies her. While in New York on family business, Jane meets up again with Jake and they rekindle their relationship … with complications.
There isn’t too much depth to the storyline but it’s fun and will certainly entertain.
