A French fishing vessel, which got into difficulty off the south east coast is being towed back to Dunmore East.

A problem arose with the ship’s propeller at around 5am and it lost all power.

No crew was injured, and the vessel contacted the RNLI at Rosslare. Another French vessel is towing the boat to shore.

An investigation will be launched once the ship is back in the harbour.

RNLI spokesperson David Maloney said weather conditions made things difficult: "Wind was force 6 to 7 south-westerly, with poor visibility and heavy rain."
