A report into how disgraced obstetrician Michael Neary treated 62 of his patients may be handed over to the Gardaí, according to the Patient Focus group.
The report was commissioned by the support group for Dr Neary's victims and is being compiled by two British-based obstetricians.
Dr Neary was struck off the register in 2003 for unnecessarily removing the wombs of scores of women at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
The 62 women whose cases are being assessed in the latest report did not come within the scope of the recent inquiry by Judge Maureen Harding Clarke, which was confined to obstetric patients.
They all had some of their reproductive organs removed and most of the procedures are believed to have been unnecessary.
Patient Focus says it might show the final report into the matter to the Gardaí in the hope of securing a prosecution.
