Jenny McAuley finishes 21st in Olympic mountain biking

Ireland’s Jenny McAuley has finished 21st in the women’s mountain biking event at the Olympic Games in Athens.

Ireland’s Jenny McAuley has finished 21st in the women’s mountain biking event at the Olympic Games in Athens.

Gunn-Rita Dahle of Norway clinched gold in the event. Marie-Helene Premont of Canada won silver ahead of German world champion Sabine Spitz.

Meanwhile, Ireland’s international hockey umpire, Ray O’Connor, will referee tonight’s Olympic men’s hockey final between the Netherlands and Australia.

O’Connor was also involved in the Atlanta and Sydney Olympics in 1996 and 2000 and umpired the final at the Atlanta Games.
