The Survivors of Child Abuse in Ireland have given a cautions welcome to comments made by the Dublin’s next Archbishop.

Speaking at a service yesterday in St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral church in Dublin, Coadjutor Archbishop Diarmuid Martin said that victims of clerical abuse would never be forgotten.

However John Kelly, of S.O.C.A, says he has heard it all before.

"Don’t hold your breath. We have heard all this before. Basically what happens is one step taken forward by the church leads to three steps taken backwards.

"So we have to wait and see. We will hope, all one can do is hope. That’s all we have - hope that things will get better. But the track record isn’t very good."
