Hurricane considered for Irish Champion test

Hurricane Run may change course and take on Ouija Board in the Baileys Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown next Saturday.

Hurricane Run may change course and take on Ouija Board in the Baileys Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown next Saturday.

Andre Fabre’s brilliant colt was expected to take his chance in the Prix Foy before going for back-to-back victories in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

However, Fabre told the Racing Post: “The Irish Champion is an option for Hurricane Run. The distance of 10 furlongs is short of his best and for that reason, I’d be looking for some ease in the ground to make the race more of a test of stamina.

“We’ll monitor the state of the ground and the likely strength of the opposition before making a decision.”
