The majority of the money stolen during last Friday's bank raid in Dublin has still not been recovered.

Reports over the weekend said up to €4m of the estimated €7.6m stolen during the robbery had been recovered during garda operations on Friday night.

However, it emerged this morning that the actual amount recovered is just €1.8m.

Seven people remain in garda custody in connection with the raid, during which a bank employee's girlfriend and her relatives were held hostage by an armed gang.

He was forced to go to work at the Bank of Ireland on College Green in Dublin city centre and remove the cash before handing it over to the gang at Clontarf DART station.
