A 46-year-old student claims to have only eaten porridge for 138 days.

Chris Silver, from Scotland, says he has only consumed oats, water and "a bit of bread" since January as part of an art project on art project questioning the value of the Westminster spending cuts.

He said: "I think the focus on austerity is ridiculous and I thought I'd make a piece of work that is even more ridiculous.

"We'll get a balance of payments that no one will understand.

"Why are we doing it and what are the benefits to the people?"

Chris parodied Chancellor George Osbourne in his project, where the politician depicts himself as former Queen of France Marie Antoinette.
