Ireland has the largest cinema-going audience in Europe, according to new figures released today.
The EU survey shows that Irish people go the pictures more often than any of our neighbours and that the trend is set to continue.
Ireland has an average of 3.4 cinema admissions per person per year. This is well above the EU average of just 2.1 visits per year.
Inevitably, American film productions dominate European screens. Ireland again tops the bill with 73% of all movies shown here coming from the US, compared with 65% in the UK and just 37% in France.
