Investment in services and reputation management will be key factors for Irish companies wishing to sustain profitability in the future, a UK customer services expert says today.

Robert Crawford, membership director of the Institute of Customer Service (ICS) was speaking at the announcement today it is to expand its operations within Ireland and will hold a launch event on Wednesday, March 23 in Dublin City Hall.

The Institute of Customer Service (ICS) is an independent professional body for customer service in the UK.

The launch briefing, which begins at 10am, is free of charge and is open to all interested parties.

It will be introduced by John Fitzgerald, Dublin City Manager and will be addressed by, among others, Ted Johns, chairman of the ICS.

Hosted by ICS member, Dublin City Council, the day will provide a comprehensive agenda profiling the Institute, the ICS Professional Awards and the benefits of ICS Membership, together with comments on the current state of customer service and future market trends.

Founded in 1997, the ICS is a not-for-profit, independent professional body dedicated to helping organisations and individuals to raise their customer service standards. Its primary purpose is to lead customer service performance and professionalism.

At present the ICS has some 4,000 Individual Members and over 230 Organisational Members in the UK and internationally. Members include BT, Vodafone, Belfast City Council, British Airways, Tesco, BUPA and Visa EU.

Apart from Dublin City Council, three other Irish organisations have already recently confirmed their ICS membership in Ireland: Ladbrokes Ireland, Oracle and the EIQA.
