Cisse not a done deal, insists Houllier

Gerard Houllier has denied suggestions Auxerre striker Djibril Cisse’s move to Liverpool is a done deal.

Gerard Houllier has denied suggestions Auxerre striker Djibril Cisse’s move to Liverpool is a done deal.

Reports at the weekend claimed that Cisse had already completed a medical and had signed a pre-contract deal to move to Anfield for £14m (€19.8m).

But the manager insisted that Liverpool’s lengthy pursuit of his compatriot is not over yet.

“One report said he had come for a medical on December 22 and neither myself or the medical team were in Liverpool then,” said Houllier.

“He has not signed a pre-contract agreement, but he wants to. At this stage what has been said about Djibril Cisse coming to Liverpool is not true but that does not mean it won’t be in the future.”
