Crowley's vote distributed in South

The second count in the South constituency has been completed. Fianna Fáil’s Brian Crowley has been elected to the European Parliament after he topped the poll.

The second count in the South constituency has been completed. Fianna Fáil’s Brian Crowley has been elected to the European Parliament after he topped the poll.

Mr Crowley secured 125,000 votes, around 4,500 over the quota. Fine Gael’s Simon Coveney was around 800 under the quota after the second count and is expected to take the second seat, while the third seat is likely to go to independent candidate Kathy Sinnott.

Ms Sinnott was on just under 90,000 votes after the second count, around 15,000 ahead of Fianna Fáil’s Gerry Collins.
