Sinn Féin has called the Household Charge "a fiasco" and will tonight table an Emergency Motion at a meeting of Dublin City Council, calling on the Government to repeal it.

Up to 805,000 people registered to pay the €100 fee up to Saturday's midnight deadline and Junior Minister Fergus O'Dowd said those who have not registered will be pursued.

Minister O'Dowd also said that the refusal of some people to comply with the Household Charge will result in service cuts for many.

However, Sinn Féin Councillor in Dublin North Central, Mícheál Mac Donncha, has said the Government has already cut funding to local authorities.
