World number one Lorena Ochoa was tied for the lead after the second round of the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

Ochoa signed for a one-under-par 71 to move to five under after 36 holes, level with Heather Young at Mission Hills Country Club in California.

Maria Hjorth and Mi Hyun Kim each shot their second consecutive 70 to be third on four under.

Hee-Won Han (69) and Annika Sorenstam (70), trying to win this event for the fourth time, were two shots further back.

Defending champion Morgan Pressel shot a 74 but was 22nd at one over 145.

First-round leader Karen Stupples also struggled today and was tied for seventh at two under.

The 2004 British Open champion carded a 67 yesterday but hit six bogeys in the second round.
