A man has been arrested in connection with alleged multiple robberies from passenger baggage at Dublin Airport.

The ground handling company Servisair has confirmed that it is conducting an internal investigation into claims that some of its Dublin staff have been involved in the racket.

The controversy emerged following an anonymous tip-off from a company employee, who claimed the activity had been going on for a number of years.

Passengers from several large airlines passing through Dublin are believed to have been targeted.

Servisair says it is taking the allegation very seriously and is co-operating fully with the Gardaí.
