The Green Party has revealed that it seeking to get Eamon Ryan’s name on the ballot paper for the presidential election on October 22.
The party said today that it was canvassing other TDs to get their support for the nomination.
Mr Ryan, the Green Party spokesman on transport, trade and enterprise, needs to be nominated by 20 TDs before he can contest the election.
Meanwhile, a Sligo man has also announced his intention to seek a nomination for the election.
Kevin Lee said today that he had already asked Clare County Council to put his name forward for the election.
Mr Lee needs the support of four county councils to get his name on the ballot paper. He said he wanted to contest the election to highlight low moral and ethical standards in Irish society.
