Nursing home inspectorate to be set up under new Bill

Minister for Health Mary Harney is due to publish details of new legislation today setting up an inspection regime for nursing homes and public hospitals.

Minister for Health Mary Harney is due to publish details of new legislation today setting up an inspection regime for nursing homes and public hospitals.

The Health Bill will set up a new agency to conduct independent inspections of public hospitals, as well as public and private nursing homes and residential facilities.

It will also include new protections for health service staff who express concerns about other medical personnel or problems in the system.
