Peter Bowen confirmed Betfair Chase winner Snoopy Loopy as a “definite runner” in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury this weekend.
Bowen has made the decision to turn out his 10-year-old so quickly as he is officially 10lb well in at the weights.
Snoopy Loopy’s Haydock triumph extended his lead at the head of the Order of Merit and the Welsh handler has admitted that is his primary objective.
“The Order of Merit has been the target since day one of the season for Snoopy Loopy and the £200,000 (€236,000) prize-money that is put up is a big incentive for any trainer who has the right horse,” said Bowen.
“It’s great to see the increase in the percentage of money given to the yard this year.
“At the end of the day, it is the team behind the horses who deserve recognition.
“I would say that he will be a definite runner for the Hennessy, all being well between now and then.
“I would think we will then supplement him for the Stan James King George at the Christmas Festival if all goes well.”
