Detectives at Finglas Garda Station in Dublin said a male in his 40s received a stab wound to his chest as a result of an incident in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí said the man was still in a serious condition in the Mater Hospital.

The man was discovered on the ground in the car park of St Canices Church on the main street in Finglas at around 4.40am.

Detectives are looking to speak to a female in her mid-twenties with long light brown hair who was driving a light coloured Fiat Brava in the area.
