Delaney joined the panel in 2001.

Since then, he has won nine All-Ireland medals, 10 Leinster senior medals, eight National Hurling League titles and five Walsh Cups.

He has seven All Stars including 2014 to his name and was declared Hurler of the Year in 2003.

"Kilkenny GAA wishes to thank JJ for his fantastic contribution to hurling in Kilkenny and further afield and wishes him all the best in his retirement," a Kilkenny GAA statement read.

Paddy Power have pushed Kilkenny’s odds of retaining the All Ireland from 7/4 to 2/1 following Delaney’s retirement.
