Wigan have ended speculation over the future of coach Brian Noble by announcing a new deal which will keep the former Great Britain boss at the JJB Stadium for the foreseeable future.

Noble, the former Bradford coach who joined the Warriors in April 2006, was out of contract at the end of the season and had been linked with moves to Australia and France but he has now signed a new 18-month contract with an option for a further year.

“Brian and I shook hands on a deal two weeks ago following five months of working together and planning for Wigan’s future squad,” said Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan.

“We completed the formalities over the weekend and felt we should announce quickly against a background of yet more media speculation.”
